Summertime means longer days and more time outdoors. Juicy watermelon, fresh salads and lots of sun-ripened fruits are things that also come to mind when I think of summer. The summers here in Switzerland for the past two years have been fantastic. Longer than usual and we have spent a lot of time in the water and outside.
The hot weather and sunny days mean that I need to use some sunscreen when I know we’re going to be outside for a long time. While I don’t use a lot of sunscreen because I prefer to get some vitamin D, I put some on after about 20-30 minutes of direct-sun contact. If my kids are playing outside for an extended period of time or we are spending the day at the pool, I’ll also use sunscreen on them. Read the rest of this entry

You can make fast, easy, organic, and most importantly non-toxic hand soap in minutes. We are certainly not perfect in the ‘green’ department, but we do our best and make continued strides every day. Changing out my personal care products to something non-toxic has been a goal for a while now and I was really pleasantly surprised to learn that it was not that difficult to do.
