Post Septoplasty Update – Almost 4 Months Later

I have to apologize for my lack of posts.  I have been busy with preparing for concerts and an impending move.  I do find, however, that I miss writing.  It keeps me focused on things that are important to me and if it’s also useful for others then that makes it even better.

It’s been nearly 4 months since I had my septoplasty surgery.  The surgery went very well but there were some ‘complications’ after the surgery that hindered my recovery a bit.   About 5 days post surgery, my daughter accidentally elbowed me in the nose breaking open the wound.  Then my family came down with colds so along with healing I was also trying not to get sick.  I figured any cold virus getting into my sinuses would complicate my healing process.  I think it was a bit much for my poor nose and sinuses to take on at one time. Consequently, I ended up with a sinus infection.  It seems really ironic because I got the surgery precisely to rid myself of having sinus infections in the first place.

Mission Accomplished – Septoplasty Completed!

It’s been less than 24 hours since I had my surgery and I have to say I feel unexpectedly good.  Everything I read about recovery for this procedure said to expect at least 3 really uncomfortable days with difficult breathing and general malaise.  It was not the most pleasant night I’ve ever had last night but certainly manageable.

The Natural Singer Will Go Under The Knife

Well, I never thought I would say this, but I’m going to have elective surgery done.  Ok, let me back up a bit.  I hate going to the doctor.  In fact, I rarely ever go unless it is absolutely necessary.  I exercise, I eat well (most of the time!) and I try to manage my emotional health, as well.  When I have gone to the doctor for various reasons, I have been told that I am in very good health.  This pleases me 🙂  With that said, if you read my first post, you know that I have a history of sinus infections.  And, I recently got over a cough that lasted about six weeks and then tried to turn into yet another sinus infection.  Six weeks of being sick (my youngest was sick, too) is just not ok with me and I was finally determined to find out if there was anything wrong with me that contributed to my prolonged recovery from a simple cough.
